Marcin Gałażyn is an award-winning Polish instrumentalist and composer who has written music for numerous television productions, documentaries, films, theatre performances, audiobooks, opening credits and commercials.
His compositional style balances between many genres - from minimal, through chamber music, contemporary, electronic, to the broad sound of a symphony orchestra. A characteristic element of his compositions is always a beautiful and memorable melody, which Marcin treats as the main pillar of the composition. Since 1999 he has been a musician of the Motion Trio group, with which he has performed hundreds of concerts in 44 countries on six continents. Together with Motion Trio : he has performed in the most renowned concert halls such as Carnegie Hall (N.Y), Benaroya Hall (Seattle), Skirball Cultural Center (L.A), Wiener Konzerthaus, Barbican Centre (London), Tokyo International Forum, Game Logen (Oslo) and in many others ; he has collaborated with many orchestras, composers and such outstanding artists as Krzysztof Penderecki, H.M. Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, Michael Nyman, Bobby McFerrin, Joe Zawinul, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek ; he has recorded 14 CD albums ; Marcin's music was performed live at the Closing Ceremony of the 2023 European Games in Poland (broadcast in 50 countries) ; he co-authored the music for the film "Happiness of the world" directed by Michał Rosa. (The music received the "Best Film Music" award at the 41st Gdynia Feature Film Festival) ; he co-hosted masterclasses at the University of Chicago, the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Conservatorio di Musica Tchaikovsky di Catanzaro (Italy), and the National Academy of Music in Sofia. Marcin is the author of the music for the Great Ballet Gala “L’art de la dance” at the Krakow Opera (2021), he composed the music for the films “Diary of beholder” and “Jacek Sroka. The Abyss of Działoszyce” (dir.Jarosław Migoń) - both awarded many times at European festivals. He is the author of the original music for the films “Game for the Crown”, “Zakopane Republic”, “Stańczyk” (dir. Piotr Jaworski), “Medanoso” (dir. John Robertson), “Morskie oko nasze”, “Murowanica” (dir. Monika Skwirtniańska), “Tender girls will win” (dir. Francisco Bassigniana). Composed music for over 30 series and television programs produced by TVP, TVP Historia, TVN, TVP3, TV4, La French Tech on air. He is a laureate of many accordion, chamber and jazz competitions, co-founder of the Que Passa - group performing improvised flamenco fusion music, with whom he performed in European clubs and festivals for eight years. In 2009 he received the “Cobalt Muse” award from the “Other Sounds Foundation” for outstanding musicians for their contribution to the development of art. In 2011 he was awarded the "Honoris Gratia" badge - in recognition of his services to Krakow and its inhabitants. He is also a creative scholarship holder of the Polish Ministry of Culture (2020). His music for the theater performance “Goodbye my diary" received a nomination for the "Golden Mask" award in the "Special Award Category "as the best music for a theater performance in 2023 in the Silesian Voivodeship. |
